Top 5 Most Popular Porch Column Capitals and What They Cost

The capital is often selected for ornamentation; and is often the clearest indicator of the architectural order. The treatment of its detail may be an indication of the building's date. It mediates between the column and the load thrusting down upon it, broadening the area of the column's supporting surface. Decorative capitals also give a sense of individuality. Prices for the most part are pretty reasonable for fiberglass capitals. These capitals will last a lifetime.

  1. Tuscan Capitalcap Tuscan resized 600 - The Tuscan capital comes in at number 1 because it is by far the most widely used capital. This capital can be found on most government buildings and also most houses. With it's simplicity; you can't go wrong choosing the Tuscan capital. These capitals range anywhere from $20.00 to $775.00; Depending on the diameter that you choose. The smallest is 6" and the largest is 36".
  2. Roman Corinthian - This capital is one of the tallest cap Roman Corinthian resized 600and is the latest of the three principal classical orders of ancient Greek and Roman architecture. Given that these capitals are one of the largest available the price can typically go right along with their large presence. Smaller diameters start at $160.00 and the large diameters can get as high as $4,000.00
  3. Temple Of Winds - Somewhat similar to the Roman cap Temple of Winds resized 600Corinthian capital, the Temple Of Winds capital has a more subtle look to it. Still very decorative but has a slightly smaller price tag. Starting at $115.00 for the smallest diameter, and getting as high as $1500.00 for the largest available diameter (28") which is far less than the Roman Corithian's $4,000.00 price tag.
  4. Roman Ionic - This is one of the least expensive cap Roman Ionic resized 600decorative porch column capitals starting at $105.00 (6" diameter). Still a large price difference compared to the Tuscan capital. However, they do come in at a lower price for the larger diameters with a high of $950.00 for the 24" diameter fiberglass column capitals. These capitals are historic and show the egg and dart details at the top.
  5. Scamozzi - This one has a fun name doesn't it?cap Scamozzi resized 600 Shaped a little differently than the Roman Ionic with a bit more detail; this one comes in a little more expensive. Starting at $120.00 and goes up to $1200.00 for a 26" capital.
